My baby turned 2 ...

Squirt turned 2 this week, and he decided to personally conquer the "terrible" part of it! All of the sudden he's aggressive and has an attitude... my sweet little boy is no more. Today though I realized he's still sensitive. Lauren fell down and was crying and he came over to rub her head (his way of checking on you) so I came to the conclusion that if he didn't do the hurting then he's sensitive enough to be concerned.

We've had a big day. Grandma D took us to see "Horton hears a who" it was cute but Squirt only lasted 3/4 of the way through. Then Grandma M took us to "Build a Bear" then we had a small party with family for dinner.

Spring!

Little Man heard on the news the other day that it was the first day of spring, he starts jumping around saying "yey! it's finally spring..." I'm thinking hasn't it been spring for like 3 months around here? Anyways the flowers are starting to bloom and that makes me happy. For those of you who are still shoveling snow and probably cursing me right now, don't worry in about 4 months I'll be begging for a break from the scorching heat!

This was some random wild flowers down at Picacho Peak, if you look close there is a bee on it.

This is a closeup of a bush in my back yard, the bush has about a million of these mini roses on it. I get to enjoy this bush for about 1 month of the year!

I have some daisies blooming and we even got our garden in a few weeks ago! I love spring, but as I said in my last post, it's already hitting 90 degrees so I'm afraid summer is on it's way in!

Picacho Peak

Where in the world is Picacho Peak, you ask?? Well it's in the middle of nowhere that's where!

We were roped into attending the "Nelson Family Reunion" this is Hubbie's grandma's family. I say roped in because it ended up being almost 2 hours south of Phoenix, that's kindof a long drive to have lunch! It consisted of Hubbie's 85 year old grandma and her cousins. There weren't really that many people there, but not a sole we kmew. I dragged my mom along, and when we got there I turned around to find grandma guiding my mom around introducing her to people... I tried to save her, but it was a lost cause. There were all these pretty mountains around us, but they stuck us in a ramada that was in the middle of the desert with not a tree in sight and it was the first 90 degree day of the year. To top it off when we paid our $6 to get into the park they say "The rattlesnakes are out right now so watch your kids" Well gee, that's just what I want to hear!
Oh, and to top that off, there were people there doing drugs, I guess I'm kindof ignorant to things like that, I mean I could tell these people were acting strange and they kept going over to their car to do something, but Hubbie walked by to see them smoking something out of a crack pipe and then the guy was exhibiting Meth like symptoms (Hubbie has been trained in drug recognition, he has to catch his probationers all the time, so he was fully aware of what was going on) All I can say is thank heaven above that Hubbie's mom was adopted and I'm not actually linked by blood to these people in any way!

Easter

Happy Easter and Happy Spring to Everyone!

Here are a couple pics of the boys... Hunting for eggs is Little Man's favorite thing to do in the world. Last year he "played" Easter bunny for like 4 months after Easter. This year the things are going away today! He can make us crazy.

I've been really busy this last week and so I never made it to the store to buy anything for Easter. I finally went Saturday night. Walmarts shelves were completely empty. There was a lady in the isle having a panic attack because she couldn't find Easter grass, it was funny because I thought of her Easter morning when Little Man said "Can I throw away this fluffy stuff??" That lady probably would have killed her kid if he said that (if she even found any, haha) So anyway, the Easter Bunny was a little unconventional this year, the boys got kites, sidewalk chalk, sand toys and a book (don't worry I don't think I spent more than $10). The thing is that it hit 90 degrees yesterday, so those things will all be put to good use!

Here are the boys in their "Easter Clothes" I was actually going to buy the boys new clothes and then I thought "What is one more blue polo in the closet?" Hopefully one day I'll be able to buy little cute dresses!

I put this picture on here because it made me laugh. I walked in the kitchen to see Hubbie and His Mini Me counter-part eating lunch together, they both matched and it just was so dang cute!

Anyways, after church we had a get together at Hubbie's parents house with ham, potatoes, salads, candy... you know, the works.

St. George

We took a weekend trip to St. George to see my Grandparents. We had a good time, but traveling with kids takes forever!! The 6 hour trip to St. George took us 8 hours. The boys were good sports on the way there, although Chasetin started the "are we there yets" at about Wickenberg (about 45min out of phx)! All I can say is God bless the person who made a portable DVD player!
We threw our selves in "jail" in Wikieup

and then my camera died. We had fun, although imagine 8 people in a park model!?! We went swimming and saw some sights like The Tabernacle there, and the Temple visitor center, Brigham youngs house and a few other things. I got car sick the second day, basically someone should take my grandpa's drivers license away, he's not the slow 80 year old driver, he's the crazy 80 year old driver. But we survived! I love my grandparents, some of the things that come out of my grandpa's mouth leave me rolling on the floor. My favorite of this trip was when he said "there's a reason you have kids when you're young, I'd be thrown in Jail tomorrow if I had to live with you for more than a few days" He says it in good humor though! (I think?!?)

The drive home took a little longer, it ended up raining alot of the way, and Little Man kept saying "I want out of this car NOW" I offered to just let him out so he could live with the coyotes.
My dad went home last night, and arrived safely to cold weather and potential snow! My mom is going to hang around for another 10 days and enjoy the beautiful Phoenix spring weather!

Easter Pageant

My Mom & Dad, Little Man and I all went to see the Easter Pageant (Hubbie elected to stay home with Squirt who decided to not sleep the previous night) It was really good. We went out to Olive Garden before hand for my Mom's birthday. The whole drive to Mesa, Little Man tried to get Grandma to change her mind and go to McDonald's for her birthday dinner, thankfully she stood firm and so we all pigged out! The pageant was wonderful as always. This was the first time Little Man had seen it, for the most part he was watching all the airplanes flying overhead, but he really tuned in towards the end, when they started to crucify Christ, he seemed to be paying attention pretty good, but right when they show Christ on the cross, he leaned over and said "can we go to the airport again and get those good cinnamon rolls?" (grandpa bought him cinnabon while waiting for his luggage) So I'm not sure what he really got out of it... oh well, we tried! My cousin Tara and her new husband Rob are those annoying people that picket things like the pageant and conference, we were hoping they would be there. My dad was all ready to walk up and say "I don't want to hear your crap, but I'm uncle Boyd- welcome to the family" Unfortunatly, (or fortunatly- depending on which way you want to look at it) they weren't there, actually no picketers we're so it was kindof nice. My cousin feels the need to save all our souls (mind you, she grew up LDS- but what ever?!?!)

Here is Little Man with one of the centurions- he let him hold his sword!

My Dad...

This is what happens when you leave my Dad alone with a chain saw!

For those of you that haven't been to my house before, that heap in the front yard is the remains of a HUGE 30 foot Mesquite tree! I told my dad that I wanted it gone and 5 minutes later I heard the chain saw. Hubbie came home and helped with the 2nd half of the tree. I almost lost one of my front windows, but about 4 tiles on my roof stopped it just enough (the tile is shattered now!) I guess a few tiles are cheaper than a new window! Now I just have to wait for the city to come remove it for me!

Some random thoughts

Per Dalee's request here is a pic of the 39 boxes of cereal I got for $9,

it's actually 29 boxes of cereal and 10 boxes of granola bars. Check out the link on the right of my blog here for a sight called Pinching Your Pennies. This is a sight that is divided up by state and they list out the deals going on at each store and where to find the coupons and what not, I'm on it almost as much as I'm on blogger!

And in other news my parents arrived safe and sound in Phoenix today and are enjoying the weather (it was 9 degrees in Michigan when they left) and their 2 favorite grandkids... although in about 8 months there will be a little dial cousin to compete for their attention... Congrats to Bryce and Adrienne!

We made a cake the other day, just because we we're bored. Little Man wanted candles on it, and I thought of Annalee's blog about their "Happy Birthday to Us" cake and I thought why the heck not?? So we loaded the thing with candles and then pigged out! Today, I hear silverware being shuffled around in the drawer and then a chair scaping the kitchen floor and come out to find Squirt continuing on with the celebration!

Squirt and his innocent little "cheese"- he was eating cake with a mixing spoon!

What was left of the cake- want some?

And here's a pic of Little Man, because I can't take a pic of Squirt and not take one one of him!

Squirt update #2

Well Squirt got his cast off today. His hand looked... digusting! His arm was all pruny looking and his fingers were caked with dark dry blood, with pieces of stitches here and there. The doctor said that it looked great and Hubbie said what I was thinking... "I'm glad you think so!" Squirt started crying, I think just cause it didn't look like normal, or it could have been cause we'd been waiting over 2 hours to be seen, either way?!? We went across the hall to a physical therapist and she set him up with a splint thing to go in between his fingers (imagine the Star Strek sign) and he's just wrapped in an ace bandage to keep him from playing with it. He's doing well, but getting frustrated with not having that second hand, he was "reading" a book the other day and had to try and turn the pages with his mouth. I had stopped giving him pain medicine and he was doing fine until yesterday afternoon. He has just been really cranky, crying at the drop of a hat (you know, something like a 16 year old girl!! ha ha j/k) So, this morning I had the thought that maybe he needed medicine, I'd like to think it was the spirit telling me he needed it, but it may have just been my brain desperate for some quiet, either way it worked! Thanks again to everyone who's been thinking about him!
