How could I forget...

to tell you our totally awesome news?!!??!

Starting in January, Hubbie is getting transfered to A DAY JOB!!!!

For the past 18 MONTHS, we have been "passing in the hallway." I go to work all day, come home, make dinner, pack it up for him and he goes to work all night. He comes home, helps with breakfast and getting the kids ready, and we go to work/school... and so the cycle went. FUN TIMES PEOPLE!

In many ways this past 18 months has made us appreciate the time we do have with him. Daddy time is so valuable, I'm not even aloud to interupt (I guess they get enough of me?) On day's Hubbie picks up Little Man from school, Little Man always so kindly reminds me not to come home a minute early and interupt his time with Daddy. And as for me and Hubbie, when we do get to talk, we laugh and just enjoy each others company. I appreciate every little thing he does for me so much more, and he seems so much more grateful for all the little things I do for him. They're the little things that, after being married for almost 9 years, used to go unnoticed.

So needless to say we are so excited. It's a normal schedule M-F, with really flexible day hours. It's a brand new division that the county has created from a government grant. He interviewed for it about a month ago, along with 100 other people. Because they were only hiring 7 people, he wasn't really hopeful, but he had no idea how hard Little Man was praying everynight for "Daddy to work during the day, so I can see him more." The faith of a child goes a long way!!

Here's the cool part: The supervisor called around 9am and left a message, (Hubbie was sleeping) She was going to tell him that he was #8 on the list and that they could only hire 7 people. She really wanted him, but there were people with more seniority and so he's next in line. She was very impressed with his skills, blah blah blah. By the time he called her back at 4pm, someone else had backed out and he was in!!

So here's to 2010. It's going to be a great year!

And the Christmas Madness begins...

My kids are wrapping stuff. This means that:

a)you can't find any hand towels, dish towels or small blankets.
and
b)all of your small items will go missing.

During this time of year you regularly hear phrases like: "Little Man? Where is the remote??" To which L.M. will respond "Oh, I wrapped it, hold on." and then he'll start searching to find which package it's in. We will lose things like the remote, a belt, a wallet, CAR KEYS, cell phones, etc... All of the good things, the essential things. It usually doesn't start until the tree is up, but with Christmas music now being played on the radio we're feeling unusually festive I guess.

Heaven help me!

Another One For You...

Sorry for all the quotes lately, but my kids have been coming up with some real gems!

This happened this morning. Both boys are sitting at the table waiting impatiently for their heart healthy breakfast of waffles and bacon. I hear Little Man say to Squirt "Squirt, if you break my airplane, I'll spank you." Squirt replies "YOU can't spank me, that's mommy's job!"

I Love You...

"Mom," says Little Man today upon returning home from school "Someone lied to me today." (He's like the lying police lately, I guess I should be grateful- except when I forget to do something and I get told I'm a liar. That's not so good!) "Yeah, Victoria told me she Loved Me! but she's not in my family and so she can't love me, so she lied"

Ahhh... the life of a cute 6 year old boy. So complicated.

Words You Don't Want to Hear...

at 6am, from a 3 year old standing in the bathroom with his pants at his ankles:

"Look Mom, I can do it with NO HANDS!!"

needless to say, I'm cleaning today. What are you doing?

Pregnancy Update

See that little do-hicky thing to the right?? It says I only have 99 days left of being pregnant. WOOT WOOT! (That's only like 3 months... remember just a few days ago when it said like 205 days? Time flies when your having fun I guess!)

I got my H1N1 shot this week, which was a HUGE load off my chest. I swear, stories of pregnant women dying were suddenly every where I looked. I was even in line at Joann's just minding my business when some (nosy) kind older women starts asking me what I'm making and how far along I am, and what I'm having, and what I'm naming her. And then she throws out "Did you hear about the pregnant women last week that got the swine flu. They saved the baby but she died... Isn't that terrible??" I wanted to respond with "Did you hear about the old lady who got beat down in a local Joann's for stressing out a pregnant girl?" but I kindly responded with "Ya, it's just terrible... yada yada yada..." So if you're worried about what the shot will do to you, I was just your Guinea pig, I'm still alive, so go get it.

I went to the doctor this week and had to step on the dreaded scale. I was expecting a few pounds weight gain because food is my friend again, but I was not expecting what I saw. Ya right, I'm so not telling YOU! It's okay because I had gained nothing up to this point, but to say that I gained it all in the last 4 weeks, is just bad. The doctor was like "Looks like you had a good Halloween, did the baby like all that candy?" And then he measures me and says "Well, your measuring a little big" Well duh... I just gained XX pounds for crying out loud! Today I also noticed that I couldn't button my super cute maternity jeans (they were the under the belly type ones, I don't know why they make maternity jeans that still require buttoning but they were cute none the less). Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

For what ever reason my DR. is giving me a "complimentary" 3-D ultrasound next month. I'm so excited! So there is an update for you... Until next time!

Spaghetti

Have you ever seen a kid with no front teeth try to eat spaghetti?? It's actually quiet comical. He does have the bottom 2 grown in, but they're really pretty useless without the top. He lost all 4 with in just a few days of each other. The last one he pulled on his own (kindof on accident) he was playing with it and it popped out in his hand!

The boys tried making a tent in their room out of 2 chairs and a blanket (and a whole bunch of other crap) needless to say it didn't last very long, so hubbie set up a small hiking tent he has in their room. They had so much fun and slept like rocks. It was the first time in weeks Squirt hasn't woken up at least once with some kindof problem. I told them they could only sleep in it on the weekend, but they slept so well I might keep it up!

Halloween Fun

I was too lazy to go buy pumpkins and then the thought of the mess associated with painting them or carving them was just too much for me to handle so I just thought we'd decorate cookies. But then I didn't really want to make cookies so we had some fun with rice krispies. Here's some pics for you to enjoy. Don't mind the quality of the pics. My camera is a piece of junk!
