Summer

Well, it's officially summer. We now have a 3rd grader and a Kindergartner in the house!

Soccer came and went.
Little Man's team was the "White-Outs." They won 4 of 8 games.
Little Man didn't ever get a chance to score, but he still had a blast.
We had some minor issues this year with the coach getting suspended for telling off all the mom's and the ref's and the picture crew at one of the games. So we had to have a parent step up and take over. We never really bonded as a team, and didn't even have a party at the end of the season. I think we were all just ready to have it over.

(The label on his trophy is crooked and driving my OCD mind crazy! breathe... breathe... it doesn't matter...)

We got one week off and then we started Basketball. I figured, 'oh, it's summer, we don't have anything going on so we can put both boys in.' now my calendar looks like this:

looks like I have 3 days in the month of June that I don't have something written down, but they are Sunday's and I don't really pencil in church, so we have a busy couple of months ahead of us!

This has been the most amazing month of May, weather wise. It's been 70-80's most days. A few days have gotten into the 90's. We've spent so much time outside we are all already good and tan! We got a garden going and thanks to the weather everything has gotten good and tall and strong before the real heat of summer sets in. MAYBE I'll actually get to preserve something this year! Yay!!

15 months!

Ladybug is already 15months old. Time is flying by too fast.
We took her in for a check up. She is 23lbs. 6 oz and 31.75 in long. Basically she is a BEAST!

She is sassy and spunky and very independent.

She wants to eat by HERSELF
Get in the car HERSELF
Brush her teeth HERSELF
Drink out of a water bottle HERSELF
Put her shoes on HERSELF
Read a book HERSELF
the list goes on and on:(

She's also a climber.
(I've already mapped out my nearest urgent care and ER.)
It's not all that uncommon to find her dancing on the table (literally!). Or things like the other day: She found a bucket in the pantry, pushed it over to the counter and proceeded to try to climb up and reach a banana. I'm in the other room and hear this loud noise as a bunch of stuff hits the tile floor. I run in the kitchen to find her on the ground with a dazed look. Lying next to her is a cookie sheet that had been stacked with several dishes. How she didn't kill herself is a wonder. She's definitely keeping me on my toes- just when I think all is safe she finds a new way to try to injure herself.

We discovered that she likes to color. I found her laying on the table coloring next to Little Man (coloring on the table) so I put her on the ground with a coloring book. She actually stayed entertained for a couple of minutes. It's funny because a couple of months ago someone was describing the difference between their girls and their boys and that was one of the things they said, that their girls would sit and color and read books and actually sit still. Something their boys would never do. And I'm finding that to actually be coming true!

She is really developing this cute, playful personality! She has a cabinet she has commandeered as her own.
Anytime I'm in the kitchen she'll come in, haul all the pans out of the cabinet next to the stove and crawl in. And then we play this game where I say things like "oh no I lost ladybug" and she pops her head out the door and makes cute sounds at me. It's quite entertaining. I've finally given in and just moved all the pans cause I was tired of tripping over them all over the house. So the cabinet is officially hers!

She has 8 teeth, but better be getting more based on her cranky mood. Anytime any one says anything stern to her she just breaks down in tears. She also throws really graceful temper tantrums. She falls carefully to the tile floor, makes sure her head is safe, and then starts wailing.

She's starting to carry around a baby, although usually by the foot. I suppose those little mother instincts will kick in quick enough.

Somedays I wonder how but -she has us all just wrapped around her little finger.

Some breakfast cuteness...

The other morning Ladybug really wanted to join her big brothers for breakfast.
Trying to get all 3 of them smiling at the same time is quite the challenge!

I finally got one of them all looking at me, and mostly smiling, except for the food shoved in Squirts mouth!

Since then she's realized that she can climb those chairs and I've found her on the table several times, needless to say we've had to remove all the chairs and if you need to sit down you have to go get a chair out of the garage. It's annoying, but I know that "this too shall pass"

Warrior Dash

The Warrior Dash slogan is "the craziest freakin' day of your life" and I'd say that it lived up to it's name. I did things that day that I was sure I wouldn't be able to do, or just frankly wouldn't have had the oportunity to do.

Your timing chip is also your free beer token, for after you finish. (We gave ours to some friends)
Pre-race (still clean!)

In the midst of a 3.4 mile run I:
* climbed 4 foot walls and then crawled under barbed wire (I think 4 maybe 5 times)
* climbed up and down sand hills (3 or 4 of them)
* ran thru tires and over junkyard cars
* ran thru a wash that was full of thick mud.
* climbed hay bales about maybe 30 feet high
* climbed a rope wall, and back down again, probably about 30 feet high
* climbed a wall using just a single rope and then having to climb back down, probably about 15 feet high
* had to jump 2 rows of fire
* swim 20 feet thru mud upto my waist, with barbed wire a foot above the mud.
*****And I did it in 48:21******** Finishing 3791 out of 6378. So just shy of half! Really my goal was just to survive. Which I did!!************* Hubbie finished in 47:23 only because he stayed with me the whole time, cheering me on and speeding me up. He probably could have done it in half the time.

Once it was over, I can say it was pretty awesome! This is after my hose off, which really did not help! And to quote my sweet little Squirt: "Wow mom, that is so cool that you played in the mud!"

Little Man took these photos, which is why they are blurry, but still post-worthy. You got an "I survived Warrior Dash" t-shirt, and fuzzy warrior hat.

I'm still cleaning mud out of my shower, our clothes are in the yard soaking in a bucket, and our shoes, well, they are being retired. My new ones are really comfy:) It was so fun and I'm already looking forward to doing it again next year. Hubbie is ready to sign us up for the Spartan Dash, which is 8 miles with twice as many obstacles. I think I am declining that one though!

Teacher appreciation

I found this cute little idea on "Our Best Bites" so I thought I'd actually do something for Teacher appreciation week, since I do appreciate this years teacher IMMENSELY! Little Man didn't "get" the saying so I explained it:
Me: "basically it means when the kids are driving you crazy, wait for recess, hide under your desk and eat the chocolate fast!:
LM: "oh that's a good idea alot of the kids in my class drive her crazy.... actually I drive her crazy."
Me: "Yes, that's why we're giving her chocolate!"
