She's Ours...

I paid the last hospital bill a few days ago (hopefully- the last anyway) and it dawned on me that we officially own our baby. Good thing, I suppose it would be terrible to have your baby repo'd.

When I called to make the last payment they said my card was declined (which is so embarrassing!!) so I called my bank. They looked into it and said that the hospital had ran the card for $10,000, instead of the $100 it was supposed to be. Well no wonder it was declined. I don't have nearly that much although I sure would like to! I called the hospital back and all they could say was "OOPS!"

I was looking over all the "explanation of benefits" for her birth and the total cost to have Ladybug was $16,000 and some change! YOWZA!! Hubbie doesn't make very much money at his job, but the benefits are amazing so I only had to pay a very small portion of that, just pennies in comparison to the THOUSAND's I had to pay for both my boys. $2,000 of that total was labeled for Ladybug's "ROOM and BOARD." As in the little plastic box she slept in for 3 days. In my room. Completely in my care. I guess the box did come with diapers!

Oh well, I'll just file this all away as one more thing I never have to do in life and celebrate the fact that we officially own our baby!

That is always a good feeling when you own your own baby.
It is amazing how much things cost. I think when people have insurance the hospital charges you for all sorts of things.

Lucky! I'll be paying for mine for a long while yet....

I know what you mean about room and board though. When Jace was in the hospital for his RSV, we were charged $1200 per day. He was there 4 days. And teacher insurance ISN'T so great....most expensive hotel with the worst room service food I will ever stay in! At least the nurses were great.

Hee hee - that first paragraph had me cracking up.

Isn't insurance awesome? Just the NURSE in the ambulance for a fifteen minute ride to a different hospital cost a whopping $2700.

oh yeah! the kicker for me is the room and board for baby! The last one I had was in my room the whole time too so I was wondering why the charge? no nursery, no nothing. and all meals were on me...sooooo....
